Maria's Story
Kindergarten, Class of 2024
Maria started K at Legends unable to read. Her two teachers noticed quickly and used small-group instruction during math to target her phonics skills. By winter, she was catching up. By spring, she was proud to share her own written stories with the class. "She found her voice," her mom says. "And she loves coming to school."
With two teachers in every classroom, every scholar gets noticed. Every scholar grows.
What K Scholars Learn
Balanced literacy: phonics, guided reading, writer's workshop, listening
Mathematics: number sense, patterns, shapes, problem-solving
Science: hands-on exploration, life science, physical science
Social studies: community, cultural celebration, mapping
Financial literacy: understanding money, saving concepts, simple transactions
Arts: visual arts, music, movement, creative expression
Social-emotional learning: kindness, cooperation, emotional regulation
Outdoor play: 30+ minutes daily, nature exploration, physical development
Every subject is integrated. Financial concepts show up in math, social studies, and reading. Learning is joyful, not siloed.
