About Legends
We believe every child
deserves to be seen,
known, and believed in.
Legends Public Charter School opened in 2020 with a powerful idea: what if every young scholar learned alongside two dedicated adults—a certified lead teacher and a trained Legends Fellow (AmeriCorps)— instead of one?
Today, we serve 900+ scholars in grades K-8 in Lanham, Maryland. Every K-2 classroom is staffed by our Two-Adult Model, with strategic support extending into ELA and Math across grade levels. Every scholar engages in Financial Education from kindergarten through eighth grade. And every family is welcomed into a community that believes brilliance has no zip code.
The Two-Adult
Classroom Model
Most classrooms have one teacher and 25-30 students. Our K-2 rooms are led by a certified lead teacher and a trained Legends Fellow (AmeriCorps), working side by side with small groups of scholars.
This is not a traditional aide model. Fellows are trained team members who reinforce instruction during core blocks, lead small-group work, and help build classroom culture—so teachers can teach and scholars can thrive.

Legends was founded in 2019 by educators who believed Prince George's County families deserved a school that matched their ambitions for their children.
We opened with 200 scholars. Today we serve over 900. But our mission hasn't changed: build a school where every child is known by name, seen for who they are, and believed in for who they'll become.
