The Two-Adult
Classroom Model
Two dedicated adults in
every K-2 classroom.
Strategic support in ELA
and Math across grades.
A certified lead teacher and a trained Legends Fellow (AmeriCorps), working together. This is not a traditional aide model.
How It Works
A certified lead teacher and a trained Legends Fellow (AmeriCorps) share every K-2 classroom. Fellows are not paraprofessionals—they are trained team members who reinforce academic instruction during core blocks.
While the lead teacher delivers high-quality instruction, the Fellow leads or co-leads small groups, facilitates social-emotional learning lessons, guides scholar discussions, and helps implement the classroom culture plan.
Small-group instruction in literacy and math becomes the default, not the exception—so every scholar gets immediate feedback, intervention, and encouragement.
Why It Matters
Small Group Instruction, Done Right
Fellows enable consistent, high-impact small-group instruction in literacy and math—where the most growth occurs.
Real-Time Student Support
Scholars get immediate feedback, intervention, and encouragement—without delay or falling behind.
Stronger Classroom Culture
Fellows support social-emotional learning, routines, and engagement, ensuring every classroom runs with clarity and purpose.
More Than Support—A Structured Role
Fellows help maintain strong routines, engagement, and behavior systems—freeing teachers to deliver high-quality instruction. This model allows our teachers to teach—and our scholars to thrive.

Legends Fellows
Our Fellows are the heart of the two-adult model. They serve a year in our classrooms, receive training and mentorship, and make the model possible. Many go on to become certified teachers themselves.
