Founded in Love
On June 6, 2019, the Prince George's County Public School Board approved a bold vision: a school that would prove excellence is possible for every child in Prince George's County.
The founders believed that a child's zip code should never determine their access to world-class education. They believed that brilliance has no boundaries. And they believed that with the right model, support, and love, every scholar could thrive.
Over the next year, they purchased a 75,000 square-foot former printing press and transformed it into what we now know as Legends Charter School. Then a global pandemic arrived. With doors not yet open, the team pivoted overnight, launching a full-day Microsoft Teams school so no scholar would lose a day of learning.
Legends Public Charter School was born.

Growth & Impact
What started as a single campus with 200 scholars has grown to serve more than 900 students in grades K-8. Our signature Two-Adult Model places a certified lead teacher and a trained Legends Fellow (AmeriCorps) in every K-2 classroom—with strategic support extending into ELA and Math across grade levels—enabling real-time differentiation and individualized attention.
Today, Legends is home to three buildings, 24 AmeriCorps Fellows, and a community of families who believe that every child deserves to be seen, known, and believed in.
